How to choose your circuit in Bosnia?
Bosnia and Herzegovina lends itself to stays of varying lengths. For a first discovery, 8 to 10 days allow you to combine Sarajevo, Mostar and a venture into central Bosnia around Travnik and Jajce. To go further, our circuits of 8 to 12 days add wine-growing Herzegovina around Trebinje or the rivers of the Krajina. Travellers with 13 to 17 days can complete a full crossing, from Bihać to Višegrad, incorporating Sutjeska National Park and the Perućica primary forest. Distances are short on the map but deceptive on the ground, allow time for mountain roads.
Different types of circuits
Our range covers several angles depending on your preferences. Cultural circuits explore Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian and Yugoslav heritage, with encounters in Sarajevo, Mostar, Travnik and Banja Luka. Adventure itineraries focus on rafting on the Tara and Vrbas, hiking in the Bjelašnica, Prenj and Maglić massifs, and via ferrata. Family packages balance city visits with more playful moments, swimming at Kravice waterfalls, Una park, traditional pastry-making workshops.
What is the best season?
The most pleasant periods span mid-May to end of June and early September to mid-October. Temperatures between 20 and 28°C, long days, nature in full bloom. July-August remain practicable but Herzegovina climbs to 35°C, prefer the central massifs then. Winter from December to March suits skiing on Jahorina and Bjelašnica, former Olympic sites, and snowy atmospheres in Sarajevo. Secondary roads at altitude occasionally close.
